C3P and NASA Technical Workshop "Enhancing Mission through
Proactive Environmental Risk Mitigation"
Located at the University of California San Diego
San Diego, California
November 18-20, 2008
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration
(NASA) held an International Workshop on Pollution Prevention
and Sustainable Development on November 18-20, 2008 at the
University of California San Diego. The program
included presentations and informal discussions on
the issues, progress, and technological solutions (from R&D to
commercial) related to pollution prevention and sustainable
development. Of particular interest was technologies
applicable to military and aerospace operations, including:
Pollution Prevention
- Cleaning
- Coatings and pretreatment
- Depainting
- Electronics manufacturing and repair
- Solvent reduction/recovery
Sustainable Technologies
- Renewable energy (especially wind and solar)
- Hydrogen and fuel cells
- Bio-based products
- Green buildings
